"People today aren't rejecting spirituality! They're searching for something real." Across the world, young adults are asking deeper questions about meaning, purpose, and faith. In John 4, Jesus gave a powerful answer: the harvest is already ready.
Lift Up Your Eyes: The Harvest Is Ready
Today more people than ever are asking big questions:
What is the meaning of life?
Is there more to life than success or money?
Where can I find real purpose?
Many young adults are searching for answers about faith, God, and truth.
Surprisingly, Jesus described this exact moment thousands of years ago.
In John 4:35, He told His disciples:
“Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
The opportunity to reach people with the gospel is happening right now.
The Problem: We Often Wait Too Long
When the disciples returned with food, they were focused on physical needs.
But Jesus was focused on souls.
He said:
*“My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”
— John 4:34*
Many believers live with the mindset:
- there is still time
- I will talk to them later
- someone else will share the gospel
But Jesus warned against delay.
The harvest is not months away—it is already ready.
The Harvest Is Happening Now
Something remarkable is happening today.
Many young adults are becoming more open to faith than previous generations.
Why?
- uncertainty in the world
- a search for authentic community
- fatigue from digital culture
- a deeper desire for purpose
People are looking for answers.
But searching does not guarantee they will find the truth.
That is why Jesus calls believers to lift up their eyes and look at the field.
Every Christian Has a Role
Sharing the gospel is not only for pastors or missionaries.
If someone once explained salvation to you, you can explain it to someone else.
Jesus promised:
*“He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal.”
— John 4:36*
God has already prepared hearts.
Often we are simply entering into work God has already begun.
The Question for Us
The harvest field is not far away.
It is:
- your workplace
- your neighborhood
- your family
- your friends
Jesus said the fields are already white to harvest.
The question is simple:
Will we lift up our eyes and see it?
